GREENE KING Food Supply Chain Review

Brief

The Scope of this project was to review the food purchasing in Greene King’s managed pub operation and to put forward a proposal on a suitable supply chain infrastructure that will allow Greene King to maximise their returns and deliver exceptional food to their managed estate.

Method

First we spent time in their estate to understand:

  • Brands
  • Culture
  • Operational challenges e.g. Storage/product handling
  • Current supplier performance
  • Visit current supply base in order to:
  • Understand product range supplied
  • Understand current supplier issues and constraints

Then we reviewed:

Purchasing Inventory

  • Supply base review
  • Paperwork and procedures
  • Discussions with CD providers / Supply Partners
  • Discussions on supply into CD/Wholesale

Then we

  • Reported
  • Analysed
  • Recommended

The Result

The recommendations on the re-structuring of Greene Kings supply chain were all agreed and are currently undergoing full implementation through the estate and the anticipated cost and efficiency improvements are already being realised.
